Toms River Man, 56, Found Guilty Of Selling Heroin, Cocaine: Prosecutor

A 56-year-old man from Toms River has been found guilty of dealing heroin and cocaine, authorities said.

John Williams was found guilty Monday, March 21 following a jury trial of possession of heroin and cocaine with the intent to distribute both drugs, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. 

Williams was additionally found guilty of possessing cocaine, fentanyl and heroin, Billhimer said.

Williams is set to be sentenced on May 13.

On Nov. 10, 2020, Detectives from the Lakewood Township Police Department Street Crimes Unit observed Williams and a second individual in a parking lot between 2nd and 3rd Streets - crouched behind two motor vehicles for approximately 30 seconds, Billhimer said.

The second individual subsequently walked away from the scene. Detectives approached Williams and detected an odor of raw marijuana emanating from his person. A subsequent search of Williams based upon the odor of marijuana resulted in the recovery of 164 wax folds of a compound of heroin, fentanyl and 4-ANPP, Billhimer said.

Also recovered were about 17 grams of cocaine, a quantity of marijuana, a digital scale, plastic baggies, and approximately $1,250 cash, the prosecutor said. 

Williams has been held in Ocean County Jail ever since his arrest.
